Women are better together.
Better Together® Women is a gathering for women. This in-person one-day experience in Melbourne creates space and time for honest conversations, new ideas, laughter and connection. This is a space for women, to be seen and nourished, without the pressure to care for anyone else.
Through powerful themed conversations, we celebrate all the ways women lead - at work, at home, in community and within themselves.
Start outside amongst the trees for a powerful Welcome and Little Long Walk.
Go deep with new friends quickly, in our impromptu networking workshop.
Join a fishbowl conversation on topics that matter to you: making (and maintaining) friends; perimenopause and menopause; women supporting and leading treaty; housing; parenting in a tech-saturated world.
Engage in a crafting workshop.
Sit down and share a cuppa.
Join us and celebrate the shared experiences of being a woman through stories and experiences from an individual lens of identity.
And finish with an evening of celebration and music amongst the native garden.

This is for women from every community - whether you’re in the workforce or not, a mother, single, retired, or building your career.
Bring every facet of who you are, share your experiences, listen deeply, and build your network - your village of support.
Better Together Women is a new gathering co-designed and led by The Equality Project® and The Long Walk, two not-for-profit organisations with a strong track record of bringing communities together through heart-led leadership, connection and collaboration.
Together, we create space and experiences that move people, spark understanding and show what it truly means to be “better together”.

This event is for women, 18 years and over, and include:
Women in the workforce, at home, or in the community
Mothers, aunties, daughters, sisters, and friends
Retirees, or those taking a pause
Women who want to connect, share experiences, and learn from others
This event is for women of all backgrounds and life experiences to discuss topics that are meaningful to them. This includes all women, regardless of sex assigned at birth. Some AFAB nonbinary people still live with the everyday experience of being treated as a woman, despite their gender, and they might decide that the conversations and solidarity they'll experience at this event makes it right for them. Others will decide that a women's event isn’t their vibe, and that's okay too.
Bring your full self, your stories, ideas, questions, and curiosity. This day is about celebrating your diversity and feeling inspired and supported by other women who are better together.

Is the venue accessible?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: We know that accessible doesn’t just mean there’s a lift. We try to make our events responsive to those attending, so rather than providing accommodations that nobody attending needs, we’d love to chat about what would make it accessible for you.
Will lunch be provided?
We're turning lunch into a community picnic, and we'd love you to be part of it. Bring your own food, find a spot on a picnic blanket or chair, and settle in with the people around you.
There is no cafe onsite, but a full kitchen is available if you need to heat anything up. We'll also have a DIY tea and coffee station ready for you.
We'll update this page if any additional food options become available.
What if I need a break from the scheduled activity during the day?
Our two crafting rooms will be open all day, with alternative activities. There will also be a space to sit and have a cup of tea, and a beautiful balcony with a native garden if you need a nature-break.
How do I get there?
The venue is easily accessible by public transport.
There is also parking onsite for about 50 people, and lots of street parking just up the road.

BACKROUND
It started with a yarn...
Better Together® has existed for nearly a decade as a gathering for members of the Rainbow community. In recent years, The Equality Project has been approached by community organisations and leaders, wondering how we could share the Better Together model with other cohorts of people who also seek connection and knowledge-sharing.
The first of these to come to life is Better Together Women, a new gathering co-designed and led by The Equality Project® and The Long Walk.
It went like this:
The teams were yarning. Marnie and TJ had come back from a day in conversation with a group of diverse women on the Women for Election’s advisory council. Their cups were overflowing.
Leanne recalled feeling similarly at the Long Walk Women’s Lunch, an event that once ran every year in honour of the female original walkers on The Long Walk, and the group of women who walked from Melbourne to Geelong in solidarity.
The lunch was for women from all walks of life. It felt joyful, and there was always a lot of laughter. Leanne missed it, and Jenaya wished she'd been able to go.
Better Together Women was born out of a deep desire by two organisations to nourish women, those who do so much for others, with a day that’s just for us.
